Birmingham Artsfest 2010

After a hectic summer of great performances, Oya Batucada top it all off with not one but two live sets at this years Artsfest

We’ll be appearing on the main stage in Centenary Square on Saturday the 11th September at 1pm for what promises to be a blistering display of Samba-Reggae, Maracatu and Rio Carnival Style Samba.

Then on Sunday 12th of September we’ll be playing at The Yardbird at 8pm, if it’s anything like last years show we’ll have the crowds dancing in the street to our powerful brasilian beats.

So come and long and join in the fun for free and don’t forget that if you like what you hear, you can come and join our weekly workshops at the Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath.

Oya Batucada had an incredible time performing at this years Liverpool Carnival. It was inspiring to be the the company of such great groups and we can’t wait to do it all again next year. Little Chill Festival - Sunday 8th August

Oya Batucada will be running a workshop at Birmingham’s Little Chill Festival on Sunday 8th August.

The festival is taking place all weekend at the Hare & Hounds, in Kings Heath. Featuring a diverse range of music from Birmingham’s top DJs and promoters.

The workshop will be from 2.30 - 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon, led by Maestre John Richards and will feature existing members of the band. You’ll get to try a range of instruments and learn some traditional Brazilian rhythms.

Liverpool Carnival - Saturday 17th July

After a series of blisteringly hot gigs in and around the Midlands, Oya Batucada are heading up to Liverpool for the annual Carnival Parade. It all kicks off in Cambridge Street at 8.30pm, parading around the city and ending at the Chinese Arch.

After a rain soaked festival of light at the beginning of artsfest last year, this time Oya will be playing a Sunday evening slot at the Yardbird, 7.00pm on 13th September.
