This years Artsfest performances were a resounding success for Oya Batucada.

From the excitement at opening the main stage in centenary square on Saturday morning to the crowd screaming for more on Sunday night in The Yardbird, the whole band had a whale of a time. Not only were we the first act on the main stage on saturday, we managed to hold off the rain until the end of our fast paced set. We even got the bleary-eyed early-birds to shake their tale feathers to some break neck samba-reggae.
Not satisfied with just one festival performance, we played a blistering set at the Yardbird on Sunday evening. The bar was full to bursting, with many revelers crowding outside the venue to catch a glimpse of our set with one of our newest recruits, vocalist Patsy Fuller. We bought the house down with some samba tinged classic reggae tunes. Thanks go to Patsy as well as the members of Cordao de Ouro for their dancing.
For anyone that missed it or if you just want to relive the moment, attached are some photos (courtesy of Chris East) and videos. If you want to see more then don’t miss Viva Brazil on October 9th at The Hare & Hounds, where we will be joined again by Patsy as well as our fantastic brass section Sons & Daughters of Xiango.
